Writing Secrets 101 | introducing the 'Olympia' {sm9}

The typewritten writings waiting for torturous editing ;)
(and the furthermost right document is just a reprint of a newspaper from the 1800s)
Here she is in my new workspace!

Isn't she beautiful! I was thinking I should come up with a name for her, but I haven't yet hit upon the right one. Any ideas?

I got this typewriter for my birthday and just love her! <3 The only drawback is that you, of course, can't erase/backspace something you previously wrote . . . hmm.
Anyhow, I enjoy sitting on a beanbag by my window and typing with her on my lap. Probably isn't the best idea, but what can you say? Desks aren't particularly comfortable. ;)
I have actually also been typing up my school narrations on her which has been really fun! She has so many hidden settings and I am still getting her totally figured out.

  2. Ah! She's so cool! Well, we don't have an electrical typewriter {from the looks of yours, it's a newer model}, we just git a typewriter completely manual with ribbon.

A tip, if you want someone not to see that crazily mis-spelled word {believe me, I've gotta use this ALL the time! ;)--: Press the arrow {back-space button} if you have one {if you don't, just use the lever to go backwards} and then press xxxxxxxt etc... over anything you don't want them to read, if that makes sense...;)

I love your typewriter and your new workspace, what's under your bed now?

Okie-dokie, have fun and be a true writer!!! <3

    1. Thank ya', Milly! She is definitely lots of fun! Mine is a 1950s manual typewriter made in Germany.

I appreciate the tip! :D I'll have to remember that next time I write with her. I have also just used the ' - ' to block out words too, which works pretty well.

Thank you! I have my dresser and a new stocked-full bookshelf under my bed now. :) The new setup works well -- I'll have to do another workspace post. :)

    2. Ooooh! That sounds great!

That '-' is actually a really good idea, I'll try that once the ribbon in our's get replaced!

Hmm, you're's IS actually pretty old--my bad! Our's is maybe a tiny bit older, however--I'm making this sound like 'whoever's typewriter is older is the better one', which is SOOOOOOOO not true, ;) do you get what i'm sayin', gal? ;) (Yeah, slang is fun)

  3. A TYPEWRITER!!! I've never used one before, but I've always wanted to! Maybe I'll get one someday... There's just something about them that is so inviting. I feel like it would be so satisfying to write on one :)

    1. Thank you for the comment, sweet Jaclynn! They certainly do have a satisfying click-clack-ding -- I could probably fall asleep to that sound. ;) Typewriters are truly a lot of fun to use!

    2. You're welcome, Sophia! I really like your blog, by the way :)
Aahh, yes. I think the "click-clack-ding" is really what draws me to a typewriter. Plus, I love buttons... XD
Now, I have a few questions about typewriters for you, since I'm thinking about getting one:
      1. Is that an electrical typewriter you have?
      2. I'm just confused because I see a button that says "clear", but you said you can't erase/backspace what you wrote, so I'm just wondering what that button is for?
      3. How much was your typewriter?
      Thanks in advance! :)

    3. Thank you!
I hope you can find a good one! They are a ton of fun. :D

      1. It is a manual typewriter, though I also do have an electric typewriter not shown in the above photos.
      2. I was confused when I saw that too! XD By pressing down the 'clear' button you can to turn off the tabulator (automatic tab setting for paragraphs) for certain paragraphs of your document. I haven't yet figured out exactly how to use it, but I believe that is the gist of it. :)
      3. If I am remembering correctly, my specific typewriter was about $150 off of Ebay.

No problem! I am happy to help. I can't think of any questions I could anticipate you for, but if you have any more, let me know! <3
